Right now is a critical period in which Shenzhen is fighting on two fronts: pandemic prevention and the resumption of work and production. On 9 April, Dr. Hu Junyuan, Chairman of Beike Biotech, was invited as a guest on the Shenzhen Radio and Television Pioneer 898 interview program "Resumption of Work and Production: Pioneer Enterprises in Action", introducing how Beike Biotech, during the rampant COVID-19 pandemic, has contributed its own corporate strength.
The pandemic came suddenly and during the Spring Festival holiday. Beike Biotech responded immediately, holding a meeting on the second day of the Lunar New Year to set up an emergency pandemic response group, activating the pandemic emergency plan and arranging work in three areas: deploying prevention and control, ensuring employee health and providing emergency supplies. Given the nature of our business, throughout the entire Spring Festival holiday, our cell preparation production and cell storage services did not stop, ensuring that technical service continued without interruption and service quality was not compromised.
At the same time, Beike Biotech's research department responded immediately at the start of the pandemic. The project "Clinical Research on Treating Severe Pneumonia Caused by Coronavirus with Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells", jointly applied for with the Third People's Hospital of Shenzhen (Shenzhen's only designated hospital for receiving COVID-19 patients), received approval under the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology's 2020 Guangdong Emergency Special Project on Scientific and Technological Tackling for the Prevention and Control of Novel Coronavirus (click to view).
This pandemic has brought sweeping changes across all walks of life. Public awareness of personal and family health has reached unprecedented levels, and the major-health industry will see major change after the pandemic.
The pandemic has also shown us the considerable contribution stem cells have made in raising the standard of care for severe and critical COVID-19 patients, improving cure rates and reducing mortality. In the future, perhaps we will no longer need to rely on traditional drugs to treat disease, but instead rely on cells and the body's own ability to repair itself. If healthy and vital cells could be stored 10 to 20 years in advance, perhaps another possibility could be opened up in the future.
