On February 2, 2024, the launch ceremony for the CDMO laboratory project of the Harbin Beike Cell Industry Base was held in Harbin New District. Zhang Yazhong, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the CPPCC of Heilongjiang Province; Lu Yuchun, Deputy Director of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission; Yi Zongyin, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology; Li Shumin, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Provincial Health Commission; Wang Xilin, Inspector Grade II of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology; Chen Fangye, Member of the Administrative Committee and Deputy District Head of Harbin New District; Yu Binqiao, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen (Harbin) Industrial Park Investment and Development Co., Ltd.; and Hu Junyuan, Chairman of Beike Biotech Group, attended the ceremony.
It is reported that the digital and intelligent production line R&D platform for cell preparations, developed by the Harbin Beike Cell Industry Base CDMO laboratory, is one of the important measures for implementing the Heilongjiang Province “14th Five-Year Plan” Bioeconomy Development Plan and vigorously developing the bioeconomy “engine industry”.
The Harbin Beike Cell Industry Base CDMO laboratory will be built and operated by Harbin Beike Health Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Beike Biotech. Using the Harbin Comprehensive Cell Bank + Regional Cell Preparation Center as its platform, the digital and intelligent production line for cell preparations as its foundation, and a big data platform as its connection, it will form a provincial-level regional biosample storage and CDMO (Contract Research, Development, and Manufacturing Organization) advanced demonstration project centered in Harbin and covering the cities of Northeast China. This will provide strong technological support for the development of the cell and gene therapy drug industry in Northeast China.
At the ceremony, the launch of preparatory work for the Heilongjiang Digital Life Research Institute was also announced. The core goal of this institute is to build an innovation incubation platform and gathering place for digital life industry enterprises in Heilongjiang Province — a new type of R&D institution focused on the translation of achievements and the incubation of industries — that will become a “new fulcrum” and “powerhouse” for the advancement of biotechnology in Heilongjiang Province.
The pharmaceutical industry has long been a pillar and competitive industry of Harbin New District, and is also identified as a strategic leading industry in Heilongjiang Province’s “14th Five-Year Plan”. As a sub-sector of the bioeconomy, the cell industry is an important area for Heilongjiang’s industrial upgrading. As a leader in China’s domestic cell field, Beike Biotech hopes that, on this fertile black soil, by leveraging the advanced intelligent manufacturing technologies of the cell industry base, it can actively explore and conduct clinical research and translational application of products related to cell rejuvenation technologies, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of Heilongjiang’s biopharmaceutical and health industry, accelerating progress, and using cell technology to benefit Heilongjiang and create favorable conditions for a better life for its people.
