On 25 February 2021, Lian Cong, Vice District Mayor of Shenzhen Nanshan District, led a delegation of 6, including representatives from the District Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, to the Beike Building and other locations to inspect cell-industry-chain enterprises in Nanshan District. These included Shenzhen Beike Biotechnology Co., Ltd., engaged in cell technology R&D; Shenzhen Saidong Biological Automation Co., Ltd., focused on intelligent and digital solutions for cell-product factories; Shenzhen Keno Medical Testing Laboratory, a third-party public service platform for cell quality testing technology; and the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Personalized Cell Therapy Technology, which builds talent training systems and certification of professional capability. They held discussion-style exchanges and explored, given Nanshan's existing cell industry and enterprise base, how to systematically map out the key bottlenecks of the cell industry chain – filling and strengthening the chain so as to gain control of this emerging industry chain.
The delegation visited Beike Biotech's Shenzhen Regional Cell Preparation Center, built at the start of the 13th Five-Year Plan, and the new Cell Intelligent-Manufacturing Center, built at the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The Cell Intelligent-Manufacturing Center features the world's first set of fully automated, unmanned cell intelligent-manufacturing production lines, delivered as a turnkey solution by the home-grown Yuehai-based enterprise Saidong Biological Automation, equipped with the world's first version of cell intelligent-manufacturing industrial software, with full independent intellectual property rights. This leads the upgrade of cell preparation from the traditional manual assembly-line factory to a new generation of automated, intelligent and digital cell smart factories, achieving consistency and compliance of cell preparation quality. By using technological innovation to drive down the cost of cell products while ensuring consistency in cell quality. The Cell Intelligent-Manufacturing Center is now in actual production use. Beike Biotech has reached a new industrial level.
As a frontrunner in cell technology, Beike Biotech has a deep understanding of the industry's direction and underlying core technologies, leading industry development from the Regional Cell Preparation Center at the start of the 13th Five-Year Plan to the Cell Intelligent-Manufacturing Center at the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan. As early as 2019, Beike Biotech entrusted the third-party "Keno Medical Cell Quality Testing Technology Public Service Platform" with donor infectious-disease screening and quality re-testing of cells stored for customers, ensuring that customers receive only qualified, compliant cell storage products and giving them peace of mind.
At the subsequent discussion meeting, district leaders and the relevant heads of enterprises had in-depth discussions on how to systematically map out the key bottlenecks of the cell industry chain, building on Nanshan's existing cell industry and enterprise base, and to fill and reinforce these bottlenecks so as to gain control of the emerging industry chain. District leaders expressed the hope that Beike Biotech, a Shenzhen Famous Brand, and other enterprises along the chain that hold core underlying intellectual property would further work together to strengthen the existing industry foundation and key industry capabilities; team up with hospitals in the Free Trade Zone to form a medical-engineering innovation consortium and a translation chain linked to the industry chain; accelerate the translation of innovative outcomes; and actively seize the opportunities of the biomedical industry to occupy the commanding heights of development. The district government attaches great importance to the development of emerging industries and new biotechnologies and will continue to optimize the local business environment, address pressing problems encountered by enterprises in their development and provide support for enterprises to grow stronger.
In recent years, Shenzhen Nanshan District has rolled out multiple development plans for strategic emerging industries and future industries, complementing pillar industries in tiered fashion and supporting their continued development. Biopharmaceuticals has long been a key industry, and the cell industry aligns closely with the strategic direction of Nanshan's biopharmaceutical industry leadership.
