On June 13, 2016, the China-U.S. Precision Medicine Industry and Policy Forum was grandly held at the Shenzhen International Low-Carbon City. As a pioneer and leader in the clinical translation of biotherapy technology, Beike Biotech was invited to attend. The forum was chaired by Tang Jie, former Vice Mayor of Shenzhen. Precision medicine is a cutting-edge approach to disease treatment and prevention, advocating a patient-centered model whose individualized advantages will progressively transform existing healthcare practice. As the foundation for the development of precision medicine, current industrial policies, regulations and ecosystems can no longer satisfy the needs of industry development and have even become obstacles. Dr. Hu Xiang believes "precision medicine is not only an innovation in science and technology, but more importantly requires a supporting industry environment."
Dr. Hu Xiang noted that the era of precision medicine has arrived. In addition to technological breakthroughs, the removal of ethical barriers, and the renewal of policies and regulations, supporting infrastructure is also indispensable as a foundational platform. For precision medicine, "laying down" an "expressway network" that meets the timeliness needs of clinical demand and supports mass-scale production, connecting clinical demand and advanced technology supply, is especially important. Shenzhen's innovation environment and government support have changed the growth curve of biotech companies, allowing Beike Biotech to transform from a purely R&D enterprise into an open platform enterprise.
