On October 16, the 14th Annual Academic Meeting of the Chinese Society of Biotechnology, the 3rd Conference on the Bioeconomy Boosting Shanxi's High-Quality and All-Round Development, and the 2021 National Biotechnology Conference opened in Jinzhong, Shanxi Province. Xie Hong, Vice Chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the CPPCC and President of the Shanxi Bioengineering Society; and Gao Fu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of the Chinese Society of Biotechnology, attended and delivered remarks. Hu Junyuan, Chairman of Beike Biotech and Director of the Shenzhen Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Engineering Laboratory, was invited to attend the conference and delivered a thematic report.
The conference was held to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speeches at the Conference of Academicians of the Two Academies and the 10th National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology, and to put into practice his important instructions to "uphold a problem-oriented approach, start from the country's urgent and long-term needs, devote full effort to making breakthroughs in key core technologies, accelerate breakthroughs in a number of key core technologies, deploy a forward-looking number of strategic and reserve technology R&D projects, and aim at the commanding heights of future science, technology, and industrial development". The conference was hosted by the Chinese Society of Biotechnology, the Shanxi Association for Science and Technology, and the Administrative Committee of the Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone, and organized by the Shanxi Bioengineering Society and the Shanxi Higher Innovation Research Institute. Academicians, leading domestic experts, and renowned scholars in the bio field were invited to deliver conference reports, and more than 400 representatives from across the country attended, covering bioengineering-related fields including agriculture, medicine, biopharmaceuticals, and environmental protection.

The conference aimed to build an academic exchange platform focused on key core technologies in the bio field, providing an open, shared, cooperative, and exchange-based academic ecosystem for life sciences and biotechnology R&D, bio-industry development, and government administration. It seeks to further advance innovation and development in China's biotechnology, promote exchanges across fields, and showcase research, development, and industrialization achievements. Chairman Hu Junyuan, also Director of the Shenzhen Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Engineering Laboratory, was invited to attend and delivered a thematic report. From the perspective of the entire biopharmaceutical production and operations chain, he proposed solutions for using intelligent and digital innovation to improve production efficiency and ensure process quality, gradually achieving autonomous and controllable supply chains for the biopharmaceutical industry, and thereby gaining a stronger industry voice and pricing power over end products.
