On April 2, 2012, the Boao Life Industry Roundtable: "Life Industry — A Green Driving Force for the Global Economy" parallel forum was held at the Boao Golden Coast Hotel in Hainan. Dr. Hu Xiang, Vice Chairman of the China National Strategic Alliance for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Industry-Technology Innovation, chaired the meeting; participating guests discussed topics including life sciences and the development of the life industry.
In the opening year of the second decade of the Boao Forum for Asia, the life industry — a sunrise industry of the 21st century — became a focal point of public attention. At this Boao Life Industry Roundtable, more than 10 experts and scholars from countries around the world conducted in-depth discussions on the theme of "Life Industry — A Green Driving Force for the Global Economy". Experts noted that the life industry, facing both opportunities and challenges, has attracted close attention from the international community in recent years, and called for stronger international cooperation to advance the development of life sciences.
